This project is based on a strong respect for the historical industrial heritage. The authenticity of the building has been revealed and forms the starting point for a harmonious reconciliation with new needs and functions. Breaks are avoided, with the exception of the late 20th-century industrial interventions that obscured the original character. Where possible, the building has been returned to its bare, original state.

The intervention is sober and well thought-out: no superfluous additions, a minimum of finishing materials and a conscious choice for sustainable techniques. This makes the characteristic spaces of the early 20th-century industrial heritage legible again, with their brick architecture, riveted trusses, sawtooth roofs with northern light and large gate openings that today form generous windows.

Its location on the Kortrijk–Bossuit canal and direct connection to the towpaths towards Kortrijk and the Scheldt make this project not only a unique place to live, but also a forward-looking choice. Drawing on our accumulated expertise, we carry out reconversions that are structurally sound, permissible and affordable, while respecting the industrial past.
