AC Zulte

Olsene, Belgium
2021

The new centre square of Olsene is taking shape through the strategic implantation of a new administrative centre, AC Zulte.‍

This design enhances the public space and creates a village feel by integrating the existing centre streets and the church as a beacon. The town hall fits in with the surrounding buildings, with large openings in the façade connecting the building to the street and providing transparency. The design is flexible and sustainable, with a workplace concept adaptable to the users' needs.‍

Sustainability measures such as airtightness, passive air-conditioning, concrete core activation and a heat pump linked to a BEO field ensure an energy-efficient building. Furthermore, the space around the church will be redesigned, preserving old elements such as the presbytery and trees and adding a catering function. The result is a multifunctional centre with space for both culture and public functions, and increased accessibility for the community.
